I think playing it safe is important... TO A POINT
by "playing it safe" he will risk missing opportunities... he will risk NOT having life-changing and meaningful experiences... he'll risk NOT growing in relationships with friends and family.... he will risk being a lazy, boring kind of person....
He will risk a lot by playing it safe. who knows what GOOD things might happen if he lets "bad" things happen?
what exactly does HE think HE'S risking?????

I play it risk-free, I spend to lots time coping with the autumn out from people who take adverse aspects and think of they're invincible... yet somebody else continually gets injury or dies of their wake

He's playing with you.
If you want to take some risks, do so. He will stick around or he won't. But you will learn something about yourself and you will learn something about him.
I hope it is what you wanted to learn.
