I thought this was kind of astonishing - do you?
Yesterday a friend asked me if I have a copy of I Am The Walrus by Oasis. NO, they were not referring to the cover version Oasis that did of the song - they genuinely thought it was a track penned by Noel Gallagher.
This person is 29 years old! I was rather stunned. Am I alone in finding this very bizarre?

Scribbler- no, I don't find what you've told me bizarre at all. I do, however, find it very strange that a 29 year old has not heard of one of the Beatles' most widely known, influential, and frequently referenced songs.

I am not suprised.
Most of the songs in the charts are covered or sampled and the kids all think they are original.
It is just time moving on.
However there is not a chance that Liam or Noel have the talent to write a song like Iam the Walrus.

It is a big shame. The Beatles should be part of every school's history schedule.
It's rather unfair on the original artist but that's the way of the world.
Maybe a cover version should be marked on the cover of the cd - original version by....

I know there is a girl over 20 thinks that all TV channels broadcast in her mother tongue are paid TV channels, because her parents only let her watch foreign channels since she was born (aimed to train her foreign language).

Okay.
And this means what exactly, the Beatles spilt in 1970, you know this he doesn't. There are things he know's you don't, why try to make some out for being stupid.
I can tell you most things about pop/rock music up to about 1985, after that things get a bit sketchy, since the year 2000, no hope what so ever!
In fact, I know think most of it is just noise, and I never liked Oasis, so I could not have told you they covered a Beatles song, probably made a crap version though.

I have two young cousins in my family - one 29 years old, and the other 25.
...Both of them are huge fans of Cliff Richard, Elvis Priestley, the Beatles, Engelbert Humperdinck, Quincy Jones, ABBA, and Boney M.
They can even appreciate real 'oldies' like Chubby Checker, Jim Reeves, and the Andrews Sisters !
...But, with the lone exception of Celine Deon, they hardly ever listen to any music by the current 'hot' favourites.
Would you find this bizarre as well ?!

Ever hear Billy Crystal's take on his daughter coming home from 6th grade and asking, "Dad, is it true Paul McCartney was in a band before Wings?"?

PMSL............ My husband is 31 and i don't know how many times i've had to tell him that a song he likes in the charts is a cover version.
I think it's because their parents didn't listen to music when they were younger.
