At my fastest rate, I can read a 400 page book in 2.5 hours.

sleeping 8 hours a day would leave me with 16 hours of reading minus eating, and other bodily business would leave around a solid 15 hours a day

7(15) = 105 hours / 2.5 = 42 (400) page books

It really depends on how short the book and how intense the story. If I'm reading shorter novels - say between 180 - 250 pages - that are really intense, I'd say I could read 3 or 4 (provided I'm not busy doing a lot of other things that cut into my reading time). If I'm reading a very long (say 500-1000) novel, that is intense it would be only 1; at the outside 2, if I have a lot of free time. Some really long, but not intense, books may take more like two weeks.

Depends on the week, the books, and what else I've got going on at the time, but I can usually average 8-15 books per week.I have a lot of down time at work, and read very quickly as well.My hubby doesn't understand how I can have 3 or 4 books on the go all at the same time and keep the storylines straight.

Depending on how long the book is, and also on how complex, I can usually get through 2 (maaaaybe 3) books a week. These factors coupled with how much time I have. I'm a student and all I ever do is read and 2 books a week is average for me.

I'd hate to speed-read through novels and philosophy, though ... I don't think it can be done.

I don't know about how many I could read, but the most I did read was 7. I was rehearsing for a cruise ship job. I was a featured singer (who didn't really get to dance at all). They spent the vast majority of the time working with the dancers. I learned my music on the first day, then spent the rest of the week reading (we are talking Stephen King novels and such, not heavy literature).

It depends on the book..

Jonathan Strange & Dr. Norrell took me over a month.. but that is a VERY long book.. 782 pages with rather small font in hardcover.. and very intense as well.. so I did not rush it..

whereas last week I read 4 .. ranging from 600 pages to 300.. it really depends..

I was reading one book per day for six months during my thesis in 1989.
I think it should not be more than this when you are making some notes out of the book as well and we should keep some time to digest the knowledge we get out of the book we read.
