When was the last time any of us listened to what "they" had to say about important issues of Life/Reality? Let 'em do and/or say what they want - as long as they keep their political fingers out of serious research and scientific funding.
But to answer your question, and without dwelling in undecidable semantics (e.g. soul, spirit, etc.): Yes I think IN TIME advanced robots (and other human created lifeforms) will be just as "SOULFULLY ALIVE" as humans "perceive" themselves to be today - though, it is highly doubtful that we'll see its advanced fruition in our lifetime.

Interesting question, Small. Artificial life will have no spiritual soul for they still contend with the paralogisms of rational theology wherein they tend to prove by theoretical reason that the soul is an incorruptible substance, that the will is free and above the law of cause and effect, and that there exists a necessary being. God, as the presupposition of all reality.
Be that as it may, transcedental dialectic must remind theology that substance and necessity are finite categories, modes of arrangement and classification which the mind applies to sense-experience and reliably valid only for the phenomena that appear to such experience. We cannot apply these conceptions to the noumenal (or merely inferred and conjectural) world.
Religion cannot be proved by theoretical reason.
Thanks for asking. Have a great day!

If in fact they were able to create a living form out of inanimate materials, just remember nothing happens without God, so you can figure that out.

There are over 6 billion people on our planet. to assume that there is purely one you've an invaluable relationship with is somewhat naive. once you're fortunate, you nonetheless locate the guy eye-catching after the honeymoon era, and the rest is artwork to maintain that going. A "soul mate" is a superb thought, yet i don't think of it is in any respect useful.

For a life, artificial or natural, it has to be motivated by the presene of a Spirit. The moving power in life can not be created, as enenrgy and matter can not be created. When you synthesise a llife form chemically, the spirit has to come into it to reside, or what you ysnthesise is not going to be living. How Spirit comes to iinhabit, we sill never know "Chemically".

They'll just burn them at the stake, as usual. They will also say it does not have a soul, like they say about animals. To me the soul is the mind, the mindless are the soulless. This new life form will not have a mind.

I doubt the average believers faith will be damaged by man learning a few of God's tricks.
If and when we manage to fabricate a human entire, the position will either be "It's soulless" or God had pity and gave it a soul.

they will say it's messing around with "gods plan" and try to get it banned, like they did with stem cell research even when they can get stem cells now from adults or donated cord blood.
there is so much potential in this type of science, and religion has no part in it, as long as there not doing what Dr mengaler did i have no problem. religion belongs in the church it has no place in science, politics or in our schools.
