I got scratched by a feral kitten years ago when I was trying to move it out of the garage so I could take it to the vet. By the next day my entire arm was swollen and red and hot. I ended up on several courses of antibiotics and the swelling in my arm didn't go down for a few weeks.
I realize you're referencing a song, but the diseases stray cats carry are very real.

Yes I have had it.. When I was 5 I was scratched by a dirty stray cat and I got really sick from it. Was in the hospital for a few days if not a week. I was actually allergic to cats, could never be around them when I was younger, however, I have three in my house now and I have not had a problem with them and am healthier than I have ever been.

Sure have........Just a couple of years ago I was playing rough with the same cat that I still have and she happened to bite a bit too hard on my hand. I believe it was the next day that it began to swell and it got pretty big. Of course it was a wknd so I went to the local emergency. They had to give me a shot and said that it could be very dangerous if left untreated.........
I'm a very healthy person and was told that it can happen to anyone of any age.
We've played like that since then and it hasn't swelled up again.
