Mine would have to be Mozart, Chopin, and Beethoven, in that order.

The question could be worse... I could be asking who your most favorite composer of all time is... giving you only one choice.

This changes from day to day, but:
Beethoven
Chopin
Mozart

and as an aside... how many people who answered Pachabel can even name more than one of his works? I'm betting not many.

1. Has to be Wagner for sheer brilliance of orchestration, the ability to work such massive structures in a totally organic way and amazing material. Just heart-breaking, orgasmic and uplifting all the time. As fantastic to play as to listen to!
2. Gesualdo. A strange character but with a sense for disonance long before his time. Beautiful word painting.
3.Mozart. Purity. Very difficult to play well, but a good performance of anything by Mozart is hard to beat.

I like 20th Century Classical and score music. Some of the greats in my book are John Williams, Chopin, Philip Glass, Hans Zimmer, Danny Elfman, James Horner, James Newton Howard...etc.

Who doesn't love "My Dingaling"? 1) Lennon and McCartney (although they had some good solo songs, the songs they wrote together were the best) 2) Bruce Springsteen 3) James Taylor and Jim Croce tie for 3rd except I forgot Bob Dylan which would put him 3rd and knock the 2 Js off the list.

What a miserable question. There's just so much good music out there to explore...

But I'd have to go for Wagner, Beethoven, and Handel, strictly depending on mood.

Mozart kinda is in his own class.

Mozart is number one on my list for sure! Next is Vivaldi and then it's a tie between Handel and Dvorak.
