Hmm i would say if the 250 has too much power for you go with the 125 you can always do upgrades to the engine. to race motocross you have to have the balls to take it to the extreeme i own a yz 250 and im only 16. it just depends on how risky you are how much you like or dislike pain and what class you wanna race in also how devoted you are. If your just racing when your bored well go with the 125 and try to get into amature races or if your like me and its your life well you should be practising everyday and if you went with the 250 you would be able to get used to the power fast so it really depends on your pain tolarence your skill how devoted you are and how hardcore you wanna race remember there's guys that are in their 30's that still ride 125 and there's guys who ride 250 so either is a good bike just how much raw power are you ready for.

125's are for kids! You weigh 160 pounds! You're 13, by the time you reach 15 and reach a 180 pounds; you'll wish you got the 250 Get the 250 or better; get a 400 so you can use it for atleast the next 5 years without regret!

Start with whatever you are comfortable with and can handle, then up-size when you're ready.
