It all goes back to Prince Charles cheating on her with Camilla. In 1995, Diana did an interview for Panorama in which she talked all about how Charles had cheated on her and how she cheated on him. That made Queen Elizabeth very mad and so she pressured the two to divorce and they did. Diana loved Charles; unfortunately he didn't love her as much as she loved him. It's a very sad story.

Prince Charles married Diana to have a heir to the throne. He was not in love with her at the time.
In the past Kings had mistresses and his Queen was to keep a blind eye to the fact. They accepted it.
Prince Charles thought Diana would do as the Queens had done in the past but she was a young modern girl and very much in love with her husband. She was devastated when she found out her husband did not love her but loved another.
She reacted the same as any woman would when faced with a cheating husband.
Royals are different from us common folks. They hide their feelings....they must to keep a public face. Scandals are hidden from the public especially in England( BTW I love England and the royals)
Princess Diana brought their problems to the public eye.....even in England.
As i understand it the newspapers in England were not allowed to write anything negative about the royal family until recently.
I do believe Prince Charles was jealous of the fact his wife was more popular than he was. She was loved all over the world.
Royals should always marry a Royal. They understand each other. But now the choices are few and far between.

The late Diana, Princess of Wales divorced Prince Charles of Charles on August 28th 1996. In the late 1980s, the marriage of Diana and Charles fell apart. Both the Prince and Princess of Wales allegedly spoke to the press through friends, each blaming the other for the marriage's demise. Charles resumed his old, pre-marital affair with Camilla Parker Bowles, while Diana had an affair with her riding instructor, James Hewitt. She later confirmed the affair with Hewitt in a television interview with Martin Bashir for the BBC programme Panorama. Charles had confirmed his own affair over a year earlier in a televised interview with Jonathan Dimbleby.

Charles was continually sneaking around and sleeping with Camilla, both before and after the royal wedding. He married Diana, who is said to have been a virgin bride, to produce an "heir and a spare"-- and that's all. He treated Diana, who was to begin with was a naive schoolgirl, very coldly. My impression of Charles is that he's a conceited, heartless cad. I don't see how his sons can bear to look at him, and I hope that at least one of the boys will prove to have more conscience than their womanising father. Of course to retaliate Lady Di did many destructive things herself, such as binging-purging and having affairs with various men. When the Queen got wind of all that, she strongly advised divorce. Thus the fairy tale marriage ended, and how very sad. Once married into the Royal family, I don't think Diana ever had a chance. She got in way over her head, couldn't handle it ( though who could have?) and that was that.

We weren't there; we were not communicating with her about her feelings. It may be that she discussed her feelings with someone who then communicated them to the author of a book. I don't recall ever reading that she cried at this or that moment, but of course it's possible that she did. There are so many books about her. Why don't you read some of them? Perhaps they will tell you what you want to know, but be careful. Much of what is written about how the famous felt about this or that is simply made up. Edit: Did you really write a report but now cannot remember anything you wrote? What research did you do? In what books, what online sites? Surely you kept all your notes and also kept a copy of your report?

She received a official pardon from the Queen to get a divorce in 1995, previously she had been separated from the Prince, citing irreconcilable differences.

Because she and Prince Charles were living separate lives and the Queen eventually stepped in and told them to divorce.
Diana was not an innocent party in all of this. She admitted that she ALSO had affairs whilst married to Charles. Charles said publicly that he didn't have an affair whilst married until it was clear that the marriage had irretrievably broken down.
Whilst Charles was partially to blame, I think we all know that Diana had her share of affirs (and with multiple men, unlike her husband who at least stuck to one woman who he later married).

Because Charles was cheating on her and that she also publicly admit that she's having affair with someone. I think the palace intervened and they had to get a divorce.
