Aha! Another one joins this ever-growing cult! I've been a member (unknowingly) since it hit the movie channels not long after it left theaters.

I hesitated watching it because of the cable description about a "demonic rabbit" telling the future. What a weak way to sell this amazing, intriguing, frustrating, demanding, dark film! I didn't know that I was going to be watching an SF/fantasy film that was going to burrow its way into my mind and nag at me till I watched it again and again and again in an attempt to puzzle out its meanings. I now think of it as a rather bizarro "It's a Wonderful Life".

"Mad World" quickly became one of those persistent songs that can't be banished easily from my mind though it's not my usual style of music. Now, it's on my favorites list for its strange, lulling, almost hypnotic quality. It fits beautifully with this film.

The cast is remarkable, as you have seen. "Disturbingly great" is a very accurate description. But, I've found that people either hate it or are dedicated to it. Welcome to the cult.

It's a cult classic actually. However, I read all of the hype first and after watching the movie I was disappointed. Drew Barrymore's character was denied vital airtime and they cut way too many important scenes from the movie.

It is NOT the feel good movie of the year, but it is a great movie worth watching.

This is not a movie to watch for "entertainment value" rather one to watch for the artistic film that it is.
