Depends on what kind of std's she has. This is definitely a question to ask her doctor. Some std's can be passed on at birth, so a c-section is a strong possibility to keep from infecting the baby. She needs to make that doctor's appointment ASAP.

okay i can answer this for you as i suffer from HSV as well, your sister does not have to worry about been pregnant and having herpies, once she reaches around 36 or 38 weeks depending on her health care provider she will be put on herpies medication to prevent an outbreak and she can give birth naturally, if however at the time of delivery she is having an outbreak her bubba will be delivered by C-Sec. Her baby will not contract herpies whilst she is pregnant and herpies will not cause a miscarriage as the baby needs to come into contact with the virus via the birth canal. Also breastfeeding will not pass on her HSV either. So you have nothing to worry about, just when she sees her OB for her first appointment that she needs to mention that she has HSV.

treatment will depend on the type of STD and how far into the pregnancy she is. Generally if the mother has an std, delivering a baby vaginally will put the baby at risk of acquiring the disease as in the case of syphillis and gonorrhea. Tell her to go see a doctor

Depending upon which std/s she has, they can either be passed on as the baby passes through the birth canal, or be passed through breast feeding - it's a 50/50 chance the baby will contract the disease, but no guarentee. Your sister needs to get treated for whatever it is she has, because even risking waiting the 50/50 puts her baby in harms way, and no mother wants to do that.

more than likely they will put off treatment until after she has the baby and she will have to have a csection rather than deliver the baby but she should get treatment now because if I am not mistaken there are steps that need to be taken now to help prevent miscarriage! Hope she grows up quick and gets to the doctor or regardless of how excited she is to be pregnant she may not get to carry the baby to term and that would be terribly sad to state the obvious. Please encourage her to go to the doctor ASAP!!!

If she has genital herpes, she may have to have a c-section if she is having a break out at the time of delivery. She needs to be honest with her doctor and when it comes close to delivery time, the doc with put her on meds to keep her from having a break out. hope that info helped.

Usually when one is diagnosed with an std they are given a treatment to cure it. Unless its herpes, then she will likely be given an antiviral a month before due date to help her not have a breakout before delivery.

Yes the baby can get them. If its something ike syphallis it can be treated with pencilin and the baby will get penicilin too. Babies can also get things like herpes in their eyes which is terrible. If she gets it treated the baby should be fine. Tell her to talk to her doctor.
