Two broad purpuses of America goverment insuring domestic tranquility and securing the blessing of liberty sometimes come into conflict. Considering this Do you agree or disagree with Benjamin Franklin's view " They that give up essencial liberty to obtain a little temporary safery deserve neither liberty nor safety"

Liberty means nothing when you're starving on the street. I guess Franklin wasn't.

Agree... I guess it helps that we're not really giving it up by choice, but I'm afraid that the American public will start making some rash decisions to get things to turn around. And it will cost us in the long run. Fortunately we're survivors.

Agree but the reverse is also true and has been proven true. That sometimes you need to given up individuals rights temporally to ensure prolonged liberty.
Ask anyone in the military.
Read any historical accounts on any war we as a nation has fought

Agree....Giving up ANYTHING, especially liberty/freedoms, to the government is a bad action; You will NOT get it back, once its taken....unless your willing to fight for it-literally.
