As has already been pointed out, it is on the "Valley Girl" (1983) soundtrack. For me the original Modern English version always will be the best!

As far as I know, "Valley Girl" (1983) was the first movie to feature that song. The movie itself wasn't all that great but it had a pretty good soundtrack.
