Why there is no big cricket matches are played in chennai whenever teams like australia, pakistan are coming to play in India. Chepauk is an international acclaimed ground when compared to the grounds in Jaipur, Gwalior. etc. Moreover very oftenly BCCI is not considering conducting matches in chennai. As an ardent fan of cricket from chennai Im really disappointed with the way BCCI choosing the grounds for international matches.

there is no mosquito problem in chennai like other cities.
Only the monsoon is the reason and not hot climate.

Chennai crowd is known in the cricketing world as a real sports loving crowd. They enjoy the game and cheer the teams which have given them a good game of cricket.
Why they left chennai out might be difficult to answer - weather could be one, politics another - or just plain lack of initiative from the Chennai Cricket Board.

It is obvious that chennai is always ignored by BCCI,
Chepauk Stadium is among the top rated stadiums in the
country.
Monsoon affects the whole country. Witness the first ODI
being washed off.
As for mosquitos and bandhs and sethdusamudrams it is
plain that they do not know chennaites at all.

We just love cricket as anybody in India.

Maybe there is no strong tamil lobby like Maharashtra or
karnataka. Hardly any tamil player gets selected in the
national team.

What you say is far from true. Chennai gets a fair share of International Cricket matches, both the Tests and Limited Overs varieties. Cricket enjoys a vast fan following all over India. New cricketers are coming from places which were never associated with cricket earlier. It is only fair that BCCI should allow International Cricket matches to be staged all over India in order to make the game more popular everywhere and to encourage young talents to come up. Eden Gardens of Kolkata, the best cricket ground in India is not assured of a match in every domestic series. So why should Chepauk, which is far inferior to Eden Gardens complain on this issue? One more thing to note is that Chennaites are making a habit of nagging just about over anything, whether it is Sethusamudram or cricket matches.

I agree with Evan at some extent and one TU for that but the so called security issue has been brought into the scene by the politicians. There was absolutely no need for Karunanidhi to raise a dead issue and withdraw from the government. No, I am not a UPA fan, no way but it is crystal clear that Karunanidhi compelled the UPA to cast vote against Sri Lanka in the UN keeping in view the 2014 Loksabha Elections. He wanted to lure the Tamil voters and this was a perfect stage for him to do so with elections nearing closer. Jayalalitha then wanted to prove that she also care about the Tamils and went one extra step ahead and banned the SL players from playing there citing security issues. This is what politicians do. Security concerns came from nowhere and became the most important issue. They provoked the people there and after people became violent, they rose security concerns. As for the central government doing nothing in this regard, they too are also busy in forming allies for the new government. Sad example of cricket being victimized in the hands of politicians.

hi dude,
i AGREE with u , chennai was 1 only ground tst was missed i south ,all other 3 main cities of south had matches. i too feel te same way but wat to do its all in the game but the reason for this kind of attitude towards chennai is bcoz,

since chennai , is so much addicted to cricket ,fans wil come and watch even wen india is not playing or even if its playing against minnows like scoctland, ireland etc....(proved) wen ASIA X1 vs AFRICA X1 few months back..but other stadiums which u mentioned wil only be filled if india is playin against BIG teams like australia or pakistan and u cant see these crowd if its nt against australia .....tats y they chose those grounds for this series.

BUT i wish in future chennai wil be d venue for other BIG matches and ROCK the cricketing world and entertain d same way it has done b4....
