Upgrade to faster INTERNET or more memory etc on your computer.. YOu might also try dumping your cookies, emptying your temporary INTERNET files & deleting the history. Delete unwanted files photos & programs. Limewire will suck all the juice out of your computer, if you have that downloaded!

Hi,
Aside from the actual type of internet connection you have(eg. dial-up,dsl,cable modem, satellite broadband) the best thing you can do to increase the speed of your internet connection is to keep your computer "uncluttered". The more programs and widgets, ect. you have on your computer the slower it will be able to process information that is accessed via the internet. Having a good routine of disk clean-up, disk defragmentaion, and solid virus and spy-ware protection also are key elements to keeping your system rolling along at mach speed!
Below in the sources I included a website that is good for optimizing your computer for the internet. The tests and scans on it can help square your computer away.
Hope this was helpful!

Upgrade to a faster service. If you have dial-up, get rid of it. There is no need for such slow connectivity and stupid web accelerator softwares.
Here are the types:
dial-up> DSL/cable> T1> T3
Check Cnet's Bandwidth meter for your speed rating:

Alternatively, you might have a program that is hogging your resources, so your overall computer speed is slowing down.

you can try www.tune-up.com
it is free for 30 days, does a good jpb of cleaning and fixing, make sure you run ALL of the PROGRAMS at least 3 times,a lot of times it takes this to really 'clean' your machine, but it WILL fix lots of stuff for you.Now i know not what you have, dial up,or dsl, broadband or cable,ETC,you are supposed to gat the speed you pay for,on dsl it is a law that your provider give you the speed you pay for, weather it is 256,512,1 meg,2 meg,3 meg and 6 meg,6 meg is all my provider offered when i retired, but i understand in the future 20 meg will be offered,WOW!!!si in closing make sure you are getting the speed you are paying for,go to www.speed test.com,or dsl speed test.com(after you run the programs)
