If your DSL modem has a built in router, simply connect the 2 PCs to it.
If not, and it has a NETWORK (Rj45 / Cat5) socket, use that and connect it to a router, then connect the PCs to the router.
If it's a USB modem, ask DSL supplier if they reccomend a model of networked router/modem and get one (with wireless if you have wireless capabilities in the PCs) This request to the DSL Co is NOT because they won't all work, but if you need help, you need to know that THEY know the model

You can get a wireless DSL system or you can buy a 2nd DSL modem.
If you have 2 DSL modems, only one can be connected to the phone line and turned on at a time.
I bought a 2nd modem, exactly the same brand and model, on eBay.
If you frequently switch between PCs, it's slightly more expensive but much more convenient to go wireless. The modem has a 6" stubby antenna and each PC has a receiver antenna.

you need a router (wireless best), they are really cheap
connect DSL to router
if your going to have the computers in different spots in house
have the first computer linked to the router
have the second computer use a wireless card to access router for the internet/home network
or you can drill a hole in the wall and/or have one long cord connecting to the other computer
point is:
you need a router or a residential gateway

well, for this you'll need a crossover UTP cable. Go to any computer shop, tell them to give u CAT5 or CAT6 UTP cable as long as u need (100Meter maximum). Tell them to make it a cross cable.
Connect your two computers with this cable. Give any IP address in same subnet. Now share the DSL connection in one PC. In other PC use that PC's IP address as it's default gateway.

the best one is use Internet Connection Sharing (ICS).
Activate ICS on your main pc (connected using adsl). then install 1 more ethernet card as second ethernet. then connect the second ethernet (using UTP Cable) to your second pc. if you`r using ICS then the default ip is 192.168.0.1.
Set ip on second pc to : 192.168.0.2
Set netmask on second pc to : 255.255.255.0
Set gateway on second pc to : 192.168.0.1
Set dns on second pc to : (i dont know, ask your provider)
Try to ping 192.168.0.1 from second pc. if it`s replying then it gonna be working.
nb : using Cross Cable if you direct connect from main to second pc. if you`r using switch / hub use Straight Cable
