i had a pelvic ultrasound done on wednesday and they said it would be ready by tomorrow, and my mom who works at a medical clinic said because it is taking this long then my results are normal. i have had pelvic pain for at least a month now. the severity of the pain ranging from light to it hurts when i walk. because the results are taking more than five days does it necessarily mean the results are normal? Any suggestions?

I would follow up with your doctor to find out whether the results may have come back yet as sometimes doctors can get the results back and forget to get back in touch with you to let you know the outcome.

I wouldn't worry about anything until you have received your results and know what your ultrasound results say/show. If the severity of your pain continues and you experience bad pain, I would recommend going to your doctor or the ER immediately as you may have an ovarian cyst that is causing you this pain and ovarian cysts can twist and rupture.

Good luck :)

I had one done b/c I was having pains similar to yours. Turns out that I had an ovarian cyst (it went away on its own). As for why it is taking so long to get the results, well when I went they told me it would be a couple days before the radiologist could look at it and then he/she would then send his/her notes to my gyno. Then after that paperwork was completed, my gyno would look at the results and phone me. My gyno is really slow at returning messages and what not. I think she saw that it wasn't anything major and didn't call me for a few days because I wasn't priority since it wasn't anything serious. If you're still in pain, I would definately follow up with your doctor and see if the results are in.

Taking too long does not mean that they are normal. Call your doctor and see if they are done. My results were taking too long and it was because when they were read they never informed my doctor. They had to call and find out where they were. Waiting can be very stressful. I hope that everything turns out alright for you.

Just sweat it out and wait. I don't know of any reasons that it will take extra time if the results are normal.
