why, are some americans afraid to learn a second language and why, are they afraid of illegal immigrants some people speak more than 2 languages and they are better than some people that speak only 1 language.

I don't think they find it a necessity, even though a lot of jobs will pay a bilingual person more money .
I think they have an advantage, and if they wanted they could learn it. I would learn as many languages as possible.
Another thing might be that they are too busy with their jobs and families that they don't have time to learn it, which is weird because they expect other ppl that migrate here to learn it and they are busy too , and probably work like 5 jobs, and don't make as much money (not even close).

America is allowing legal immigrants but illegal immigrants are not liked by any country in general. Anyhow sometime they prove more useful for doing many jobs which legals will not do. So we can say that illegals are usefull underhand but the problem goes that if they are not useful like Afghani immigrants in Pakistan. You know how many soldiers they have captured and killed and how they have made the life of common man a havoc. He find threats of death for a small street brawl because they will just kill and go to other city. But I think America have better or better-made immigrants.
Languages two or more are good but when linguistic problem rises and racial problem starts. You know Bosnia?

People who live in America, and will all their lives do not need a second language. To them a second language is an elective or extra in life only. In their country they will never encounter a situation where they have to have a second language. Illegal and legal immigrants do need a second language, it's called English. Any immigrant coming to our country should be required to learn our language. Speaking 2 languages is OK but does not in any way make you a better person than someone who only speaks 1.

I took Spanish in high school but I never used it, since I live in an English-speaking country, so I didn't retain it. I guess if you travel extensively, or your job requires dealing with people who speak a different language, it might be useful. Most of us just don't need it though. I don't think speaking a second or third language makes anyone more intelligent though. If you move here, you should speak English. If you're just visiting, it's not necessary since you'd be with a tour group who would assumably have a guide that spoke the language.

I don't know anyone who is afraid to learn a second language; I think that the majority of people just find it unnecessary. Unlike other countries the U.S. is isolated from the majority of non-English speaking countries (besides Mexico) so less importance is placed upon it. I don't think people are afraid of illegal immigrants, as much as, they are using them as a scape goat for the state our economy is in. Many of our major corporations are outsourcing to other countries and then we have a labor force within the country who are willing to work for a lot less wages then what native workers will work for (the wages are not enough to live off of).

hmm ive never heard of someone so afraid to learn a second langauage. maybe the people you know are afraid because they had some traume with other langauges.
