I feel like my parents screwed me over on a lot of things. Your parents are responsible for you development and since I hate myself and my life, I feel like they failed me. A lot of times they put themselves before me. Is this normal? Does everyone feel like this?

As a parent, I felt I did okay, but now that they're in their teenage years - they are facing trials and tribulations that I didn't know how to handle myself? How could I confidently direct them? You know, parenting doesn't come with a manual. It's basically common sense but that doesn't always work and most of the time it doesn't. I started saying after my youngest turned 16 that I found out too late that I shouldn't have been a parent - though I always had the best of intentions. So don't just them too strongly until you've done it right yourself. It doesn't always turn out like you plan. If they were truly vicious, evil people, then hell yeah, hate 'em. If they did what they knew how to do....let it slide.

Hay hay, home skillet,

Wherever you are now, that's where you're at! No use gloating over what might have been. So your folks weren't the Cleavers or the Huxtables. You can go on whining about your present shortcomings or you can do something about it.

I'm not pulling this outta my a--. I had an alcoholic father and mentally ill mother. Wanna talk about feeling screwed? Well I did. You might consider an anger management course that helps you deal with changing your expectations. Look up "Dr. Albert Ellis", REBT or "Rational Emotive Behavorial Therapy".

Best wishes!

If you're 6, you can be angry with your parents for screwing you up. If you're an adult, you need to start becoming accountable for your own life and the choices you make. If you're still angry and upset, try some couseling and maybe a little prozac.

Stop being a victim. You are responsible for your own decisions. You can't blame your parents for what you decide to do. All they owe you when you are a minor is a roof over your head, food, clothing and medical care, beyond that everything else is a bonus. Once you are an adult they don't owe you anything.

Yes, some people do...BUT parents screw up, some more than others. its understandable to be upset with them sometimes. but you have to take control and responsibility at some point. YOU choose what you become and how you react to things. many people with terrible upbringings have gone on to do wonderful things.
