In case you are US citizen , thats a question for a native american...as like 90% of the US actual "legal" citizens have foreign European/Asian/african/mixed ancestry. The brittish part just landed in this continent and proclamed themselves the "legal" citizens (...and eventually took the name of the whole continent for themselves and todays USA' territory)
------------------------
"They are coming and taking our jobs!? " 100% Hipocracy(+ignorance+bad stereotypes).
Ive sadly seen this problem in Germany...
They just need cheap workers for the hard dirty work but of course they are afraid this people will like to stay and have the same rights or eventually develop to "take the real good jobs" of "better" qualified citizens, that actually, some are not "better" qualified but they just dont fit the profile "immigrants".
What I mean is that not all immigrants deserve to be rejected and not all legal citizens deserve (half of) the rights they have.
Every country has a bunch of criminals and horrible people most of them are "legal citizens". But its always easier to blame the outsiders instead of looking the own problems.
Here a great video concerning "The Immigration Debate" of the USA.:

Just to start, I have no problem with people seeking to achieve the “American Dream”. I just think it is polite to sign the guest book when entering a private party…
There is a HUGE amount of proof from around the globe that prove that when there are HUGE amounts of cheep and plentiful labor the technology and advances that come from being in a pinch don’t take place and it hinders all of society.
I have a perfect example of this…
In Australia they grow grapes.
They grow grapes for both Wine and the production of Raisins.
Australia, if you don’t know, is an island… They do not have access to huge quantities of cheep and plentiful labor so when they faced a labor shortage and a huge rise in costs they had to stop, take a step back, and FIGURE OUT A WAY TO COPE.
Because they had to stop, think, and develop new techniques and technology they not only figured out how to grow the vines more productively but they also developed both a technique on how to dry the grapes right on the vine and machines to harvest the ready-to-pack product.
If they had 1000 Mexicans or Polish that would work for $3.00 an hour they would still be wasting water, soil productivity, profits, and, most importantly of all, they would be USING the laborers and holding both the people they are exploiting back and the company itself.
When you are put in a crunch you need to become creative and inventive…
In the last 20+ years the United States has been slowly falling behind in EVERYTHING but in agriculture specifically…
We could grow at least a third more with the land we have if we were not so dependant on “Migrant Workers”.
We would have the same incentive to expand our knowledge and our technology that the rest of the world that lacks innumerable “Disposable” labor has!
The PEOPLE are not the problem per-se… They are just trying to make a living… And the companies are just doing what they do when there is an abundance of people willing to work for cheep… It is the fault of the SYSTEM that has found its comfort level and has become so lazy with the Status-Quo that has worked for years that they are finding movement and change hard to cope with…
Especially since it means spending more on something that they don’t NECESSARILY need to do to keep with their current production levels.
If either side stops independently of the other and says “It’s time for change” then they raise public outrage!
If the Companies that hire the laborers cheep stop hiring them then everyone screams “They are not hiring them because they are *Mexican or *Polish or *Irish or *Indian or whatever the nationality of the month is”.
If the people stop working and demand a real wage and better technology then the companies scream “They are just trying to take advantage.” Or “They are getting uppity!” Or “They are trying to unionize and this is a non union state!!” Or a thousand other things that all boil down to “We don’t want to spend because they set the price and it is better then what they would get across the border”.
Just as how it takes BOTH SIDES to keep the status-quo it will take BOTH SIDES to make a change that will benefit EVERYONE in the long run.
It boils down to Supply and Demand.
Comfort and Discomfort.
Profit or Loss.
Yes, these are human beings we are talking about but when it gets boiled down in the long run it always becomes one group vs. another.
If we humanize the situation too much we lose perspective and without perspective we get bogged down in emotions that serve no one.
Take a step back and look at the big picture… You will be shocked at what you really see…

Its wrong for many reasons:
1. Its illegal
2. They come over and take jobs from cheap employers who exploit them.
3. And its not that you and I wouldn't do the job its just these immigrants do it for cheaper. Why do you think that the unemployment rate is so high? Because immigrants already have all of the jobs!!

More Americans would be willing to do those jobs if they paid better. They can't survive financially in this country on such low pay. I also believe the employers who hire illegal aliens don't really want to hire American workers. That's because it's easier to exploit immigrants who can't speak the language and are unfamilar with the country's laws and regulations.

It's not that they're taking our jobs, it's that they're here ILLEGALLY. That means illegal, as in against the law. We don't know who they are, they could be an honest person, or they could be a criminal running from the cops in Mexico, and if the ladder, we don't want you in here.

Right, I don't want to pick fruit or lettuce either. I don't want to wash dishes or clean other people's homes.
