The whole "Gay" thing kinda freaks me out, but hell, it is the 21st century and gays should have the right to be as miserable as straight married people and experience the hell and financial devestation of divorce just like the rest of us.

I'm on the fence with this one. There are many logistical challenges to work out in the courts and this will cost millions in legal fees. On the other hand, everyone pays taxes, so they should be entitled to do whatever. So I guess it's hard to argue against. While it will be unappealing to many today, in 1 or 2 hundred years from now, it may not be so taboo. I don't know if that's something we should encourage. Sorry I'm really conflicted on this one. As soon as I'm done typing this, I'm going to give myself a thumbs down. Heck I'll never get to level 3.

Any couple willing to make a life long committment to one another, pay the taxes, and take care of each other when they grow old should be allowed and encouraged to get married if that is what they want to do.

It is not up to the government to dictate who can be married in the eyes of God. Furthermore, it is not up to any human to make that decision either. Holy matrimony takes place between the couple and God. No one has the right to stop, hinder, or make decisions that limit this action.

YES! YES! YES! They aren't waiting for a bill that allows them to buy explosives and kill people, they want a bill that allows them to obtain the same benefits every other married couple shares. The way I see it, is if you are lucky enough to find such love with a person and want to share the rest of your life with them, you should be allowed to.

And I can imagine what my priest would be saying if I uttered those words, but in being Catholic, I've also learned that passing judgement is against our religion too!

Yes, absolutely. There is no reason to bar two mutually consenting adults from entering into a legal contract based solely on their genders.

And a legal contract is what marriage is - it's not a religious institution, because if it were then atheists couldn't be married.

I don't believe they should be called "marriages" ... maybe unions ... but not marriages ... I do believe they deserve the chance to benefit from each other but the sanctity of marriage is man & woman ... sorry ...

i have always said, why is this such a big issue with people.
who cares who they marry. it is nobody's business.
there isn't a law that dictates what type of person hetrosexual couples should marry (except the cousin thing) but still there isn't a law

so why in the hell should we say who gays should marry. what difference does it makes. none. they are still going to be together. they are still going to thrive and function as a family, so what the hell is a piece of paper.

let them make their commitment and vow to one another already and let's find some new issues to rack our brains over already.

I don't believe so, that is totally against what the Bible says...there are however murderers, thieves, adulteresses, etc. out there. I guess it depends on if you want to go to Heaven. Just my opinion, that's all.

Absolutely. There is no reason why gay couples should not be allowed to legally marry. Statistically speaking...gay couples are less prone to infidelity and separation than their straight counterparts.
