call the number x
Nine is subtracted from a number gives you x-9
the difference is multiplied by 5 gives you 5(x-9)
The result is 75 gives you =75
so the equation to solve is

Let x be the number.
Nine is subtracted from a number, >>>>>>>>>>>>> x - 9
and then the difference is multiplied by 5.>>>>>>>>> 5(x-9)
The result is 75.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 5(x-9) = 75
What is the number? >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Solve for x
5(x-9) = 75
Multiply 5 to the terms inside the parentheses (Distributive property of multiplication)
5x - 45 = 75
Add 45 to both sides of the equation (to eliminate -45 in the other side of the equation, so only the term with a variable is left)
5x = 120
To solve for x, divide both sides of the equation by 5.
x = 24

A number could be anything, so its also varies : call it X
So 9 is subtracted form it : X-9
You then multiply the quantity which is (X-9)5
You get 5X -45 = 75
5X = 75 + 45
5X = 120
X = 24

say X is "the number"
(X-9)x5
first, you just want to know 5 time WHAT is 75? it is 15... therefore
you would ad 9 to that fifteen... which is 24
x=24
example
(24-9)x5=75
(24-9)= 15
15 times 5 equals 75
x=24

I lived in the U.S. for 8 years, therefore went to middle school and high school there. I came back to Brazil to go to college here, and all my grades had to be "translated." I think that you don't have to officially translate; send your transcript the way it is and I'm sure the college itself has a way to see it. They probably know the german grading system etc.. When I got here, the asked an official translator to translate my transcript; the only thing he did was translate the classes I had to the Brazilian equivalent.. the grades remained the same (A, A+, A- etc...) The Education center here, knew what it meant ... Edit: Plus, not all schools in the U.S have the same grading system; some use 100 etc.. same thing goes for the GPA...it's not all the same.

We let the "mystery number" be x.
So we end up with:
(x-9)5 = 75.
You can then rearange to solve, finding
x = 24

work backwards...
75 divided by 5 = 15
so now you now x-9=15
add 9 to 15 which is 24
x=24

5(9-x)=75
I'm using "x" as a variable.
45-x=75
subtract 45 by both sides
-x=30
So x= -30
