Well, let me just say your statement shows what "liberals" really think of the working class. There's a reason the "silent majority" abandoned the Dems to vote for Nixon, Reagan and Bush. You're elitists (with no reason to be) and view anyone who works for a living as illiterate and ignorant. You're the "voice of the working class?" Please! You despise the working class, and they despise you.

As bias as this question seems to be , and assuming of course that people were exposed to both left and right wing media , what does one have to do with the other ? As a conservative and a literacy volunteer ..we were and still are perfectly willing to teach adult democrats how to read . There will be conservatives as long as people still long for and value the freedoms this nation was founded on . I 'm delighted to hear your comment about "excluding the extremely wealthy" from anything( not that I buy into it) . It's high time somebody tells it like it is about folks like the hollywood elites and the Kerry's ; Kennedys , Edwards & Gores - who - as you say .."live only to make more money" . You left one out ..but I understand why ( she may very well want power as much as money). I for one welcome views from others whose opinions differ from mine . I only wish more people could hear them .

The question looks like a hypothetical based upon everyone having the same education. The only one assuming that the "working class" can somehow be categorized as 'uneducated' or 'illiterate' is yourself. Otherwise, it's just a question about if people were all completely informed.

Most conservatives I know are college educated and over 30. I believe that the better educated and more mature one becomes, the more conservsative he becomes; although life experiences combined with maturity can make up for lack of formal education, to cause a person to become more conservative.

Im guessing like myself you are not conservative. The conservative ideology at its core is logical and reasonable.
Hatred for certain groups of people, irrational economic policy, and war is not conservative. A conservative like the one that is satirized by stephen colbert would not exist, if that is what your asking? Some of the best educated, most caring people i know are conservative. There main reasons for being conservative are that there belief system's, and there life lessons, have taught them to feel that social systems, among other things dont work for society. It is important to have them, as it is important to have the anarchists and communists, because it gives a nice balance, and a world were we could alll atleast make comprimises. Needless to say , as youve stated, not everyone is eductated, and the media hurts this balance. To answer your question: yes there would be conservatives in the US...but real conservatives and very little of the conservatives you have come to know.

I can read and I went to college and I am conservative. Why do children listen to only the one side of an issue and ape their teachers opinion. Are we wasting our money on college educations.

You are ignoring the huge influence of a propaganda machine better known as mass media. Our culture is saturated with a scientifc materialism. Education cannot fix this problem.

The game is biased toward those with power and only a new consciousness at the grass roots level will fix it.

Wouldn't you ? Or are you one of the sheeple? Think it over.
