Criminology is the social science that deals with the "why" of criminals and how to fix it.

Criminal Justice and Police Science deal with the "how" of how to deal with them.

Majors like sociology and psychology and political science won't hurt if you can't do CJ. Business applies to almost any type of organization.

If you think you may want to get a master's degree later, political science will get you into a good public administration (MPA) program and business will get you into a good business administration (MBA) program - either of these are very useful to a police force administrator.

Either of these would give you the added tools you need to become and advance as a police officer.
