Friend put second one on e mail....first time I recall seeing one with a nose.

Damn...I was radioman in USCG....morse code, voice, radio teletype. And these kind of things :-)
:-o (oh noooo!) would have worked out great on the teletype machines.
I worked on the old time teletype machines like you see in old movies....with the tape with the holes.
going clack clack clack.
superbly machined.
Those things took a beating.
I gotta check USCG Radioman forum on military.com.....
I don't remember seeing the things.
If I did they would be few and far between...circuit discipline and all that.
but on some obscure circuit...like the old nonsecure teletype nets...
They must have been used.
We would sit around on dull radio watches playing with teletypes....trying to make pictures....

The round nose one. It's a matter of preference. Just like this >:-| :o( or that.

does not matter... the nose version came later... but now there are all sorts of these... even a site that serves as a dictionary but cannot recall its address...

there are a lot of them all kinds that show up as different things in chat room or yahoo im i think aol has there own set too

well i prefer the one without the nose bcuz i think it's cuter lol but they both mean the same so it doesnt really matter.

I never really liked those- which is why i usually use
