My '04 Civic LX Sedan's OEM tire size is 195/60-15.
I like these wheels:

I'm thinking of going P45R 18 x 9.5 +30 4h x 114.3 in the rear, and P45R 18 x 8 +? 4h x 114.3 in the front. What would be the effects of different width tires as far as performance? I'd go 9.5 width in the front as well, but would it interfere with the turn radius of my car?

Or should I just simplify it and go with the Grid 17 x 7.5 +40/+45 4h x 114.3 on all 4?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

There are several things to consider when upgrading tires/wheels. The first thing to check is the 'back spacing' on th OEM wheels. This is the distance from the back side of the wheel where the lug bolt holes are to the backside of the outer edge of the rim. If you stay with the same 'back spacing' as the OEM wheels there will not be a turning clearance issue. Another thing that must be considered is 'fender well' clearance. You don't want a tire/wheel combo that will rub on the fender lips. Wider tires on the rear of a front wheel drive car really makes no sense. Wider tires on the front will increase traction but is really only effective when going in a straight line (ie drag racing).
From an overall handling, braking, and comfort standpoint stay with the same size on all four corners.
Hope this helps.

Tirerack.com can tell you exactly what wheels fit and does not fit your car. They'll help you with plus tire sizes also for the exact same reason. All these things cost a great deal of money and I'm sure you don't to purchase a "mistake" and wind up unloading wheels and tires on ebay.
