The paper is shallow and superficial. A story is introduced without any depth. For deep background, I rely on Harper's magazine.

Like all newspapers, they are trying to cut costs and avoid putting themselves in a compromising position by being on the wrong side of a story. Consequently, all major papers and even local papers have an exceedingly cautious editorial position. It doesn't pay to break a controvertial story that will offend some big corporate advertisers.

It's always safe to re-iterate the press releases put out by D.C.
