I got into a car accident the other day and had quite a bit of asthetic damage. I was wondering whether or not a body shop would be willing to put on parts that I have from my parts car. For example, if I have a bumper, will a body shop put that part on for me. I really don't want to have to get new parts for this car.....please, any help would be greatly appreciated.

**Question, will body shops use your parts (non-mechanical) if you ask them to?**

Thanks. :)

I don't think that it should be a problem. If it will save you some money I think that they should do whatever you like. You are there customer and in essence you are the boss. I would just tell the body shop that you have some parts to use and you want to use them. Don't give them the option.

They'll probably do it, but they wont like it. They make money on the parts too, not just the labor.

Often, they will charge you a little extra on the labor to make up for the loss on the parts.

Your local mechanic hates when people bring in their own parts to be installed too, as they charge you full retail price for those parts that they were able to purchase for half of retail or less.

99% of every shop in the country will tell you to pi** up a rope if you bring your own parts. They are entitled to make a profit on every part they install on a car, even used ones. If you offer to pay them the mark-up the insurance companies pay then it should be OK.

As a matter of fact yes, they would and it will also be cheaper for you since they dont have to order new or used parts. They will just charge u what they charge to put on a bumper or anything else

They might but they will make you sign a waiver if the parts arent the correct ones.

yes most of the time they will install parts that you bring them,as long as they don't have to work on the parts first,i have took parts in and put them on that customers have brought me,it just depends on the condition of them,if their good i don't see them or any other place having any problems doing this, good luck on it,

I don't see why they wouldn't. Call a few and find one that will.
