OK I married, I've got more diplomas than you can shake a stick at (including a phd), kids (infant size), own a house, and I've got a reasonable job. I think I've got what a lot of people call a quarter life crisis right now. What are some smaller things I could do to make life a bit more interesting/meaningful/fascinating? I say smallera because I obviously have a lot of commitments. Original ideas appreciated!

Ok. think back to before college. when you had a moment to yourself and thought about something that made you want to say- "hey, i should do that sometime!" you seem bored with your decent life. Why not join a team? Go to the gym! Add something new to your routine. Find a nice little coffee place, relax at the library. Or do that thing you never had time to do in college. Just don't join a motor cycle gang. Not yet dude, not yet.

Smile. I've been there a couple of years ago. What we used to do has a few steps to it. The very first one is asking your wife about her own desires. Then finding a baby sitter for a day or two. Taking your wife to an exotic and intimate place to eat could be a great way to start things... Then you can go see a play or a movie... there is also a comedy club option... depending on what you enjoy the most... Going to a nice hotel and staying there overnight... enjoying each other in peace and quiet... That had always worked for us... it also gave us something to look forward to, when life got the better of us... Smile. Good luck with your plans!

sounds like the need for a mini adventure is calling you. Things have gotten too routine. You need a little shake up. Be a bit spontaneous. Grab the family and jump in your vehicle and just go see someplace you always wanted too. Screw the money and obligations. Nothing will change before you get back . Life is only what you make it. Its nice to escape and get a small bit of freedom from the daily burdens. Where do you see yourself? Las Vegas? Lake Tahoe? Some small cabin in the mountains. Find your adventure.

Sky dive. Ride a roller coaster. Get a piercing where only your wife will see. ;D Take a kickboxing class or do yoga. Run a marathon. Join the gym. Make a check list and do all of them, as you do these talk to people who are also doing these things and ask what they do for fun or as a hobbie, make friends with those who are full of life and really know how to live.

LEARN TO FLY.

Or... At least take a "discovery flight".

It is an eye-opener... fascinating.

Sit down and draw. If you have no confidence about drawing, draw abstracts. You'll surprise yourself.
