In order to increase your ability, you're going to need a teacher or director of some sort to give you feedback. However, for things you can do at home, vocal exercises are good so that you can learn to project and use your voice in a healthy way.
All actors at some time have to do monologues, whether it's for an audition or in a play, so use this time to read every play you can get your hands on and start building a repertoire of monologues that you can pull out, as needed. Really go for variety - classical, comemporary, comedic, dramatic. Memorize them until you can say them in your sleep. Now the acting comes into play, you have to bring the characters to life in a believable way. There are a number of books out there that address the technique of acting - Stanislavski, Meisner, Adler, Hagen, etc.
Note, it impossible to learn how to act from a book or from doing exercises at home. Take a class, do a play.

I am not much in favor of exercises. I think you learn to act by acting in plays, so my advice would be for you to get involved in your school theatre and look for opportunities to act in the community..

one thing that you can do on your own is to memorize long speeches from Shakespeare and then recite them oover and over until you can do each easily.
