I am looking into going to get my bachelors in business. I would like to start a business, so entreprenuership would be ideal. Of the 4 schools I am looking at Duquesne University actually offers this program. I am very interested in going, but most of my family wants me to go to WVU. Its a possibility, but I really do think I would like Duquesne. They pressure me about things such as what if I don't make any friends, what if I don't like it, its not close to home, and basically try and persuede me to not go. In a way I do agree with them, but at the same time I have always been a little reserved and I think it would be a good risk to take. Plus I am afraid that I will regret not going to Duquense because i was too scared to take that risk. What should I do or how should I approach this situation?

Figure out what business you want to be in and study that, with business as a minor.

Nothing says "doomed" like a business started with no core competency.

The key to success is knowing what you want and how to get it!!!!
You clearly know what YOU want, you clearly know that Duquesne offers it. I'm also a Business Major and have found ONE school in my area that offers Entrepreneurship. It may not be as high ranking as other schools I've been accepted to but it's the one the I Want! Because I know what I Want. and that is to be an entrepreneur. Your family is not fighting for what's best for you they're fighting for what's best for them. It's time to let go, they don't need to control you anymore. This is an opportunity not a criminal sentence. They'll see you and you'll be fine. You could apply all those same questions to the college they want you to attend: what if you don't like it, what if you don't make friends...blah, blah! Let me tell you a secret Not making Friends in College is practically Impossible. OK. So tell 'em to stop their whining, its only temporary. They should be boosting your self esteem and supporting you with this not guilt-tripping you. Fear is also no excuse. I've been to college it doesn't bite. Professors are nothing like high school teachers, they not only do their jobs but they honesty WANT to help you as a student to acheive. When it comes to my education I know exactly what I want and while other schools may look better on the outside, I want the specific courses offered at the one that offers them. You have to do what will benefit your success in the future. So the family wants to cry let 'em cry, they'll be all to happy being taken out to restaraunts and getting help with their bills and cars in the future when you can afford to help them out from the education you chose for yourself tho right? So do it for yourself and do it for them. They love you, but they aren't thinking of what's best for you, they are thinking of what's best for them and its not fair.

Go where you know you will get the best education to achieve your goal. Your family member are important, but in this case, your future is what is most important. Go with your heart and God bless.
