no...wash it with bleach or very hot water, like boiling water. Anitbacteria soap is just a fancy word, it kills nothing.

No. The bacteria collected in a sponge could be resistant to the antibacterial matter in the soap. Whatever it is in the soap would not touch most of the bacteria. Additionally, the sponge is porous, and it is possible the antibacterial soap would not even penetrate all the cells in the sponge.
You could kill 99% of the bacteria if you washed the sponge thoroughly in 140 degree hot water with bleach, rinsed well, then soaked it in 91% rubbing alcohol.
Sponges are nasty things. They sit at a sink, always moist, picking up some pretty awful bacteria. Then, someone comes along and uses it to wash out their coffee cup before refilling again. (Gee!! Where did I get this miserable flu bug from??)

No, the antibacterial soap will only kill certain bugs.
Sponges are so cheap, I have no idea why people keep them longer than a couple of days!
I use about 4 sponges a week, I get a pack of 5 for about $1.50 and then just use a fresh one every couple of days.

Probably not. I get the sponge wet, squeeze out some, but not all, of the excess water & microwave it for 30 sec. at 5 sec. intervals ( what I mean is microwave it 5 sec at a time, 6 times back to back). I may have been misled, but it's my understanding that the heat kills the germs.

Best way to kill bacteria on sponge. Place the wet sponge in Microwave for a couple of minutes. It will kill anything in it or on it. Be CAREFUL...this sponge will be very HOT !!!! Let it cool before reaching in and grabbing it.

You know what works even better? ( I just learned this recently) Put white vinegar and water 1/2 and 1/2 in a spray bottle and spray or soak sponge. this is really good for fruit too. first spray then rinse with water. the vinegar washes all the bacteria away. Using Dial soap for sponges is good too with the vinegar. good luck.

probably not...some..but not all or even near..sponges are very porous and it would take a whole lot of soap and a long time to kill most of the bacteria
if it doesnt have scrubby *no metal* throw it in a bowl of water and pop it in the microwave..
run it thru a dish washer cycle on the hottest temp
bleach it in the washer..or even better yet..throw it away and buy a new sponge :)

The best way to kill bacteria in a sponge is to wet it good, and nuke it in a microwave oven. It`ll kill ALL the bacteria. Don`t let the sponge get dry, it can catch fire.

More than likely but you could not be sure without extensive testing. But a better Idea throw the sponge away and get a new one.

It may miss a few. I would suggest that you add a little bleach in the water to kill those germs, but watch out for splashes onto things like your clothing because bleach removes the color.

Only if it can reach all the bacteria, which is near impossible seeing as it's a sponge. My suggestion: get a new one and save yourself the worry.
