Would not place the blame on the loan industry but on yourself. Let me guess financed 100% with and ARM and poor credit. Housing values going down. If you could not make the payments before why should they take an even bigger risk on a home that is not worth what they are financing for.? Why did you buy more house than you could afford? You signed the papers at the agreed upon terms, why are they the bad guys? We all make mistakes in life, most of us own up to them instead of blaming someone else, or at least that is how it used to be. You signed the papers, you made the deal in hopes of making allot of money in the appreciation of housing, well that did not happen, you took a gamble, they took the risk now you have to pay or lose. Accept the blame for your own mistake, sorry

Lenders do not deal with borrowers and it is very typical that they don't answer your phone calls, Especially when foreclosure proceedings have already started. As for filing chapter 13, you need to talk to a bankruptcy attorney in your area and you need to know that it might only help you with buying a little more time. Now, if you have any equity left in your home, you should try to see if you can find a buyer who would buy your property that at least leaves you with something which is better than nothing . This is hard medicine but regrettably you are pretty far into the problem.

Good luck,

Barry

Countrywide is a Leader in the industry. They do help with work-around situations.
Perhaps a personal visit to their local office with a Plan on what you will be doing to work this through will meet with a more positive response.
Good Luck to you.

The best I can do is give you the links for the government sites that provide the information you might be able to use. To get that list go to
