It's all about how the question is phrased and who is asked. Polling organizations can make the results come out however they want just by manipulating these two factors. I know this - I interned for a US Congressman all through high school and college and learned a lot, which was only re-enforced by information I get from a good friend who works for one of the major national newspapers in Washington, DC.

If they did represent the truth than why is Ron Paul NEVER mentioned in the polling. There has been a complete media blackout concerning him. The elections for president have been rigged since the days of Nixon, I believe Kennedy was the last truly elected, not selected president! The minute he spoke up about secret societies, and separation of church and state, he was killed. Ron Paul is also a very vocal person when it comes to the secrecy of government, and corruption that goes back to the creation of the federal reserve, FYI the federal reserve is neither "federal" or a "reserve". It is a private group of banking elite, including the familiar names of the Rothschild's, and Rockefeller's!! So to answer your question, NO. The polls and elections do not represent the people in any way, shape, or form!! They are another method of controlling the thoughts of the masses. Never believe what is reported in the media of America! It is complete BIAS!! Want to know who is pulling the strings, check out some of the links below!!!

Depends on who is doing the polling.

There are some organizations like Gallup, who make their money off of polling.

They have no incentive to jury rig political polls.

Because it would then effect the other 99% of thier polling data that they make their living on.

What manufactuer would go to a polling company, that had been caught rigging polls, when they need that customer information, to run their business successfully.

Others can rig the data, by the questions they ask.

Thats why it is so important to see the actual questions asked and all the answer choices given.

Alot of the time, they don't give you a choice of what you really wanmna answer.

Nope.
A lot of polls depends on how the question is ask.

Case in point the recent veto of S-CHIP spending bill.

If you were ask are you against Bush for vetoing a spending bill that would have provide health care for the poor children without insurance?

or if you were ask.
The democrats sumbit a bill that would have provide health care to those families making up to 80K a year, people up to the age of 23, illegal aliens, and would raise you gas tax by 50 cents a gallon would support such a bill?

Same bill but two different ways the pollest sell it.

There is a difference between a random sampling and a select sampling.

Polls can be manipulated based on the criteria of the poll and the people asked.
For example:
If I were comprising a poll about ~almost anything~ and I ask people in a nursing home, I will get different results than if I asked college students.

Hi Kelly B.,
GOOD question.
"There ain't no such thing as a free lunch, some body has to pay" !
"He who pays the fiddler, calls the tune"'
He who milks the cow, drinks first".
Getting an idea, yet?
Who ever 'pulls' the poll, has to get paid for the effort. YES, polls are now conducted, by contacting previously contacted people, who have answered / responded / displayed an attitude towards what ever the "PAYER" wants.
Sorry to be the bearer of sad tidings, but this is life, now !!!

Remember, you don't bite the hand that feeds you. Polls are slanted to support those paying the bill. Also the pollsters can be very selective in who to poll or where. Take every thing with a grain of salt and be careful in what you believe, but some polls can be accurate.

I have never been "polled", nor has anyone that I know. But then again, I don’t live in a metropolitan area; I don’t think the pollsters remember that people do live other places other than in the big cities.

I think they pull the numbers out of the air... (Or other places)

Some polls are better than others - more reliable.

Zogby used to have the best reputation. Now Rasmussen does.

Polling, being a human endeavor, is by its nature imperfect - because humans are imperfect.

We all have to judge for ourselves.
