I have a Compaq Laptop that wont stay on. Sometimes it gets into windows but shuts down. Other times it wont even start up.
I already tried replacing the power supply.
thanks any advice or help will be greatly appreciated.

dammit hp!!!!!!
I had the same problem when upgrading an hp from windows ME to XP. XP would run fine for like 30 seconds, then it would randomly turn off. In my case, it had to do with the graphics card driver being unstable.But since your won't even start up sometimes, I'm guessing it's the battery

It sounds like the power supply is diffective on your computer. This is a very common problem with laptops, you should take it back to the retailer and explain the problem to them...Good Luck!

If you are trying to start it on battery power, the battery may be weak. If you are trying to start it with line power available, your problem is more severe and it needs to be checked out by a good shop.
