For youtube, the video you download from youtube is FLV file. And you may use http://vixy.net/ this to download youtube video to AVI, MP4, MOV, 3GP video for free.

No, it's OK so long as you do not sell them or claim that you are the originator or charge other people to watch them. YouTube is Public Domain and free for anyone to view or to download. If there is any copywrite, then it is YouTube's problem for putting then in the public domain. I have often used YouTube videos as a part of a PowerPoint Show.

There's a little freeware video downloader program called VDownloader from www.enriquepuertas.com that does the job nicely. I have used it many times for YouTube videos.
