I was wondering if there are any major side affects from a vasectomy , i know that the most major is the vasectomy reversing its self. Mine is set up for the 26th of this month.

The only side effect is no babies. That is it. Ok, well it will hurt for a few days, just like getting a tattoo. I thought it was a "piece of cake".

You had better call the clinic, and make one thing clear. Tell them you want a "traditional" vasectomy or none at all. If you get one of those "high tech" vasectomies, you will be back to get it done all over again. "Traditional" vasectomies have a failure rate of about .5%. "Clip", and other "new tech" (cheaper) vasectomies have very high failure rates. Yup, you get what you pay for.

When I say "failure" I mean the same thing as it "reversing itself". The high tech solutions do not work as well as the "traditional" vasectomies.

Fortunately many insurance companies are becoming aware of this, and the new types of vasectomies are loosing favor.

Good luck!

Everything I have read says there are none, besides some bruising, swelling, and pain for the first three days.

I am getting mine in the 25th at 3:00pm. My friend, and his girlfriend will be visiting me from LA and staying over the weekend to keep me company. I am single, and live in a two bedroom condo, so we can hang out. I have very few friends here because I am new to Phoenix.

My friend had his done 20 years ago, so he has been very supportive. His girlfriend has a female friend that is my age, so when I recover I might get to test my vasectomy! (joke). I hope she does not see this.

I have a boatload of movies to watch. We will watch football on Sunday, BBQ, etc. I think I will be just fine.

Vasectomy surgery is very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Indian Med Guru Consultants. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. I have also read that they arrange financing for international patients, as all surgery is not covered by insurance or by the stinking NHS.

They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor I personally believe that your surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of Healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

My cousin got her IVF (in vitro fertilization) treatment; IUI surgery done there and she is more than very happy with the results. She is all praise for Indian Med Guru Consultants. She paid just 20% of the cost what she was quoted in USA and it was like a wonderful vacation for her. Hope this helps

By "side effects" do you mean medical complications? If so, the only real side affect is the potential risk of infection that is associated with any invasive procedure where the skin is opened. Good luck on your procedure and congratulations for stepping up to the plate and doing what so many men are too fearful to do. Thanks for being responsible.

Pain, major swelling, pain, more swelling, and then some pain. Then there is the apprehension the first few times you have to produce a sample for testing if it worked. And then of course, the fear of performing properly the first time with a woman after the swelling and pain goes away.

I had mine a few years ago..nothing to worry about. I was down for about a day and then back to work.

Hell, they did not even wait for the numbing shot to take effect before they started.
