Do you need to protect cd's, computer files, or dvd's from any sort of radiation used to processs the mail. Can the files be corrupted by x-rays and such? And if the postal service does use that sort of devices, what can you do to protect it? I'm sending some stuff to a friend overseas (non-military) and want to make sure nothing is damaged.

No. A simple bubble mailer will do... some people simply put a CD in a cardboard sleeve for mailing. CDs and other media aren't harmed through the mail. I've bought several DVDs, CDs, even VHS tapes (which are easily damaged) online with no extra protection in the packaging and no harm done. You can even ask a clerk at the Post Office to be certain, but you should have no problems.

I hope this helps!
