I have tree roots that surfaced in my lawn causing bumpy mowing. What can I cut the roots out with without the soin dulling the blade?

Tricky situation depending on tree in question.

As a rule of thumb, you can cut ONE 6 inch root a year.
Expect to see die back the next season,

My suggestion is to put mulch all the way to drip line.
Add a few boulders, ferns or ground cover.

Do not fight the problem, work with it.

Mulch will do nothing but rot, hold moisture and feed the tree.

Now go drink two beers and think it over.

We had the same problem with a maple tree at our last house. We just got some soil and raised the soil level, planted grass on it and it just looked like a small high area.

no you will have to dig aroung them, But you will kill the tree when you cut the roots,
