Since I have a son who is a Paralyzed Veteran I will be voting based on the candidate's voting record on stem cell research and that is not a Republican. If they can send them overseas to fight and give their legs for their country then have the guts to vote for something that could possibly restore their ability to walk. It's a contradiction for Republicans.

President Bush is not against stem cell research. He is against creating an embryo in a dish and then killing it for the stem cell.

He says there are enough stem cells we can use in the cord of a newborn. There are other ways to get stem cells.

He vetoed the stem cell research that used the embryo in a petrie dish not the umbilical cord.

Nothing further has been done.

Over the last year there has been some research on use of adult stem cells from skin that would allow many stem cell lines without killing embryos
