During last season's American Idol run, I downloaded and saved a number of videos from YouTube. At that time, they played satisfactorily, both video and audio. Now, when I play those same videos with the same player (which works fine with other videos), they are very dark and I can barely make out the movement on the screen. The audio is still intact. Any ideas as to the cause of the deterioration?

These videos are not in .flv format any longer, but were converted to standard video format when I downloaded them. They played fine at the time they were converted and saved, but not now.

no sure, maybe sth wrong with your player
does the original flv files still work?
if it does, there must be a converter problem.

you can try play them with a flv player.you downloaded video from youtune is flv file,
