i really don't get this. i mean maybe every once in a while but..

chicken.
lost the number. (my friend does this all the time).
Playing hard to get so you will be into him more.
He found a girl he is more into. (ive done this. very sad, i admit..)
Likes you too much.
Shy.
Afraid to ruin a good thing. Afraid he is a clutz, ugly, or dork, and you wont like him anymore...
Just ones i've used, and had soe freinds use too....

Guys can be pretty stupid. If a guy does that it usually means that he really didn't like you but asked for your number in case he needed a booty call later on down the road. Take the guy your going out on a date withs age and divide it by 2....generally that is his real maturity level....though there are exceptions.

They're chicken or they just told you they'd call to shut you up in trying to avoid you, but ultimately messing up the situation more so it's nice and akward next time he sees you. (Guys are pretty stupid sometimes)
