By the way; dishwasher or clothes washer!

Washing machine: It could be the pump (cracked or shaft seal leaking), the hose leading from the tub to the pump, the hose leading from the pump to the drain. There could be a leak in the tub itself or the tube where the water depth control hose is attached to the tub. Sometimes, the vacuum breaker (if equipped) gets out of whack and water splashes out during the fill cycle and runs down and comes out underneath.

If its a dishwasher: It could be water leaking at the fill pipe, valve, or hose from valve to dishwasher. Also, could be a leak at the actuator that connects the drain solenoid to the drain valve, or a leak at the door gasket. Some dish washers have a rubber thing in the bottom that leads the water from the chamber back to the pump/spray arm; sometimes the rubber goes bad and it starts leaking. On many dishwashers, there is a rubber sleeve that connects between the outlet of the pump to the spray arm assembly some times this splits or comes loose.

Sometomes you can get a clue by when the water leaks: only during the fill cycle, only during pump out, all the time etc. You will need to take off the access pannel(s) and carefuly observe the unit in operation to see if you can tell where the water is coming from (a flashlight and small make up mirror are handy for this). The good thing about this is, if you can see where the water is coming from, you have found the trouble area; replacing the part often isn't that big a deal. Important: you are dealing with water, electricity and moving parts; be carefull where you stick your hands! If you have a husband or boyfriend, or even a platonic guy friend, this would be perfect time for him to demonstrate his repair abilities! I hope this helps.

Added: I just found out its only during the pump out cycle; so start with the pump or hose from pump to drain.

Are you the one who also has a sump pump not working? Sounds like the two problems are related. If your washer is in the basement then your sump pump has to pump the water up to the main sewer line leading out of your house. If the pump stops working then your washing machine will spill its water all over the floor. Making it look like it is leaking.

The pump could be leaking or a hose. The only way I know to find out for sure is to tip it over and look. That's what I have always done in the past.
