if Big E was still alive , he could roll his old fat butt out on a stage and sing the entire MCR catalog and it would draw more of a croud than they'll be performing for in 10 years

If the question was "which is better", then maybe there would be an excuse for saying MCR. But greater makes you think in terms of talent, in terms of how big the music is. Elvis has to win in the talent department. I mean, he's a pretty amazing dancer/singer and he can write catchy songs on a regular basis. MCR are good at guitars and drums, and have some standout songs. As for influential, I shouldn't even need to say it. Elvis paved the way for the Beatles and other artist. He started to lay the foundation of rock. MCR has not changed music whatsoever. Maybe they've changed teenagers lives' but no way have they changed music.

You'd have to be a crazed MCR fan to not say Elvis, and even then, it's pretty much a fact that Elvis is far more influential.

Even though I was/I am a huge fan of My Chemical Romance, Elvis was and still more influential. You shouldn't have asked that simple thing. :D

when i first read the question i expected to open it, and see addtional details saying you were just making fun of My Chem...... are you seriously comparing them? I love my chemical romance but..... I think Elvis is a LITTLE more influential them MCR, and will always be considered Greater, unless everybody's memory of him gets erased.

I would have to say Elvis because he basicly created rock music. My Chemical Romane is far too new of a band to have changed much. Besides not many people like them. I like MCR and Elvis, but i would say that elvis destroys McR because he is the godfather of rock.

Depends on the Generation. people that where born in the late 80's to now... MY Chemical Romance has been more influential and people before the eighties more around the time Elvis was alive and the one's that where around his death probably see Elvis as more influential
but for these days: MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE!!!

and to the haters: MCR is NOT EMO! never was and never have been and people have been saying MCR will never be remembered or know "the next year" since the beginning back in 2001 and look how far they have made it and how known they are now. (sometime 2009 is when Gerard said they will be working on their new Album) so My Chemical Romance is still going to be around for some years.
why don't you guys try to be more mature and just agree that everyone has different taste in music and no ones taste in music is better than the other person! grow up haters

Until a book comes out with a respectable rock critic referring to My Chemical Romance as the "Kings of Emo" and people begin to make pilgrimmages to their boyhood and adult homes as musical Meccas, I think Elvis takes the edge here..by a full blue suede shoe.

This is not me "hating" on MCR...I actually like them..but they are in no way in the same sphere of "rockness" as the King.

Well, i love MCR, but Elvis is, well, Elvis.
Having said that, MCR haven't been around as long as the music of Elvis so we have had decades to see his influence, while MCR haven't. So it's hard to really compare the two.

let me get this straight. you are putting Elvis, the king of rock and roll, next to My chemical romance, a group of wannabes with crap and depressing songs (in comparison to elvis) elvis was a pioneer in the rock genre. without him, there would be no mcr!!!

i do love mcr, but without a doubt elvis influenced more people. elvis's music has been around for a lot longer and his influence shows up in a lot of musicians' work. theres no comparison.
