Let me explain.I am not an American. But I am a patriot of my country. To be a patriot you must be true to the flag, true to your President, true to your country, true to your parents, true to your friends, and true to yourself. Finally you should be most truthful to God.Explain how you feel about living in such a wonderful place as your home, and your country. How you would lay down your life for it. That is what a true patriot would do.

Start with something that you enjoy doing. Then talk about protecting the right to do it. Build from there through history, then close with a personal point on why you are a patriot believing in your rights.

You could start by defining the terms. What does it mean to be American? What is a patriot? Are you those things? Why?

Because you live in a country where your free speech extends to being able to criticize your government.
What makes the American flag worth loving is that you would be free to burn it if you so chose.
