i was just wondering if this ps would run this card. The ps is a 420 watt with 18A on the 12v rail. The brand is chieftec and the model number is HPC-420-102 DF. My system is a p4 3.2 ht, 1 gb of ddr400 ram, 160 gb sata hdd, 6 box fans and and this 7950gt.

The card would draw up to 4 amps on the +12V rail. If your P4 3.2ghz is a 103 watter (P4 3.2E), +12V rail could be stressed to its limit. Turning off HT could help reduce the load on the power supply. If your P4 is an 84 watter (P4-540, 541 or 640), power supply would have no difficulty.

Probably for a while, personally I would use a larger one with 6 fans and a good video card. Look at 500+ power supply, it isn;t much more money.

To be safe I would run a minimum of 500 watts. The price difference would be nominal.
