If it is one of the "real" footballs, not a cheap toy, you can unlace it and remove the rubber bladder inside and repair just like a bicycle tire inner tube. When patch is secure re-assemble.

The ball has a rubber lining, not just at the laces. Below are general instruction on how to fix a leaking ball whether to keep a game going in the future, or, for your present problem. You have already checked the ball visually, so you can start at step two. Step 1: Inspect the ball visually. If the leak is from a rip or gash, rather than a small hole, your ball is likely beyond repair. Step 2: Fill the basin with water. Submerge the football in the basin and look for the stream of air bubbles. This is the location of your leak.. Step 3: Note the location of the leak. Remove the ball from the water, dry it with a towel and circle the leak with your chalk . Step 4: Insert the syringe of your ball sealant into the air hole of the ball. Depress the plunger to squirt the contents inside. Step 5: Use your air pump to refill the ball with air. Step 6: Toss the ball from hand to hand for a few minutes to spread the sealant around. Step 7: Dunk the ball back in the basin and check for leaking air. If you still have a leak --- and you probably won't --- add more ball sealant and try again. Tips and Warnings For a quick fix when you're out and about, slap a patch of duct tape over the hole and refill your ball. This won't last forever, but should let you finish your game. If you use fix a flat, it's a liquid that will eventually settle and harden . It'll make the ball off balance and it'll wobble when you throw it. If it's a "good football" with a bladder, you can unlace it, patch it with a tire patch and TRY ro put it back and line up the filler valve with the hole in the skin, inflate it and relace it. Unless your name is Houdini, this is hard to do. Throw it out and buy a new one!

Don't know about footballs, but you can use a large bore needle and syringe and inject about 15 cc of egg white into the ball. Works on soccer balls and basket balls. They use this method in Brazil to repair soccer balls or any ball without a bladder.

You can do the same with it as they do with tires. Go to WalMart and but some Fix-a-Flat. Use just a little to seal the hole. You can always add more later if it continues to leak.

I was going to say the same thing as Extex did. I tried it on my soccer ball and worked.
