My brother was just telling me about a kid he knows with Turrets Syndrome and I was just wondering what would happen if some how a person with Turrets never learned a curse word. Would they yell other random words?

This child only uses curse words. The reason I am asking this question is to be educated.

I will specify as well to please the first responder. What does a person with Tourette's that also experiences Coprolalia yell?

Thank you, kenikat_m. I do know a bit about Tourettes; I am not as clueless on the subject as I may have come off.

It's spelled Tourette's syndrome, in case you want to look up more info on it. But, whether or not they swear, they will do some sort of repetitive, odd behavior, either only at certain times, like if they're under stress, or constantly, without their ability to stop or control it. Some are not verbal at all, but do repetitive body or head movements, where they either jerk, or nod, or fidget, sort of like spasms. If they do express this syndrome verbally, not all will say obscene things. Some will just grunt over and over again. Or say something silly, over and over. It widely varies with each affected individual. If they get therapy, a lot can learn how to control their symptoms, if they're not extremely severe. Most are in that category. I've heard of certain people living very well with Tourette's, who can appear normal all day to the outside world, but have to let it out when they're alone in the privacy of their homes. I saw this on a tv program once and the young man had a very good day job but at night, he'd come home and let his body do whatever it wanted. I think his was verbal and he'd talk silliness all night till he had to go back to work the next day. He said it relieved a great amount of the stress that it took for him to contain himself all day. I couldn't imagine how hard it would be, to have to carry a burden like that around with you, everyday. As far as I know, but I could be wrong, there's no medication that can entirely erase all those symptoms. They'll always be there, to some degree. But therapy can do amazing things for those people!

turrets syndrome isn't just swearing, its an involuntary action, such as shouting out words, twitching, or just yeah, in a really roundabout way think of when you have the hiccups, they just, come out, right? except instead of a hiccup, its something else.
the swearing is just the part that is put into the spotlight through movies etc because it is considered 'humorous'.
as was already said, jump on Google and have a look. its more common than you think.
