OKay... my question is do you square the x and then multiply the coefficient?

Yes. this is 3*(3)^2 = 3*9= 27

= 3x^2
= 3(3^2)
= 3 * 9
= 27

Answer: 27

the x is under the exponent, the 3 is not

if x = 2
3x^2 = 3(2)^2 = 3(4) =12


but if (3x)^2 x = 2
is 6^2 = 36 it's the brackets
