It's said that she did that, but the runner up has to be upset some.
They may get the medals but, Marion Jones got endorsements, she was paid alot of money. She was on commericals, magazines articles, spots on movies etc.
They may do a few interviews, but it will be about Marion Jones cheating them. Not as much about how hard they trained for the event.,and because someone cheated they may have lost opportunities for things they needed for training in those 7 years.
Marion Jones took alot from someone, besides the medals. And look at the kids ,who looked up to her.

The IOC hasn't made an annoucement yet as to how if or when the medals would be redistributed. It will be up to the IOC to decide what to do with the medals and whether to vacate Jones' results from Sydney — which could cost her relay teammates medals, too. The USOC is supporting changing the results and is asking relay team members to turn in their medals as well. Two of the other members of the 4x400 relay served doping bans after the Sydney games. Its a pity that her cheating may very well cost other members their medals.
In the 100m Ekaterini Thanou of Greece would be moved to the gold medal slot and Tanya Lawrence of Jamaica would trade in bronze for silver. Merlene Ottey of Jamaica was 4th and would get a bronze. Thanou was involved in a scandal in 2004, but that was after the Sydney games.
In the 200m Pauline Davis of the Bahamas would take the gold, and Susanthika Jayasinghe of Sri Lanka would trade bronze for silver. Beverly McDonald of Jamaica finished 4th in the final so she would get the Bronze.
Tatiana Kotova of Russia was 4th in the long jump and would get her bronze medal.
In the 4x100 relay, France would take the bronze and in the 4x400 relay Jamaica would get the gold, and Russia the silver. Nigeria would be awared the bronze.
Sadly, she'll probably not be asked to return endorsement payments.

Yes, the runner up will be awarded the appropriate medal. Medals will be redistributed as if Marion Jones was never in the race.
The silver medal winner will get the gold. The bronze medal winner will get the silver. The 4th place runner will get the bronze medal.

In most cases the answer would be yes. Each person behind her in the standings would move up a place and receive a medal if applicable. However, there is some question about that because one of the people who finished behind her in 2000 was involved in a major doping scandal in 2004.

It was on today's news that she is giving all the medals back. I would assume the runner up will be getting some or all.

She just turned them back into the Olympic Comittee today. (3 golds and 2 bronzes). I can only assume theyd move the other runners up the lists and eliminate her.
