No one mentioned postseason troubles. Mussina was very up and down, mostly down, in the second half of the season. In fact, he lost his starting job for a while.
Wang didn't go very long in Game One, and is the Yankee ace. With everything on the line, can't blame Torre with trying him. Mussina did come on after that, but he wasn't a great option at that point.

Of course he won all those games but this is not past postseasons. Chin Mein Wang won 18 games and was amazing in august. Joe Torre is one of the best managers in Yankees history I think he knows what he is doing. When your pitching coach is Ron Guidry I wouldn't argue either. I think it is questionable but that is my opinion.
